Tally Beck Contemporary is pleased to announce its participation in ART ASIA Miami 2011 from November 30th to December 4th in Midtown Miami, Florida, USA. The works featured at the booth include animated LED work from the Shanghai-based Chinese collective island6, ink on paper drawings by the Bangkok-based Thai artist and architecture professor Be Pattanopas, and paintings by award-winning painter Songwoot Kaewvisit from northeastern Thailand, New York-based Burmese abstract painter George Tun Sein, and Chinese painter of monumental oils Chen Ping.
Tally Beck Contemporary will also be part of ART ASIA Presents, a curated special projects section featuring Happy Toy by artist Laurens Tan. Happy Toy is Tan’s multimedia installation concentrating on themes of China’s linguistics, technology and culture of fabrication. Amalgamating sculpture, architectural and animated space, music, graphics, film and industrial design, Tan’s artwork explores the dynamism of contemporary urban China in his language of playful, witty semiotics. Tan focuses on the ambiguities in the interpretation of Chinese characters by analyzing the transformation of language and meaning through his text-based installations.
ART ASIA Miami 2011 will take place at NE 1st Ave (Midtown Blvd) @ NE 30th St, Miami, FL 33127. The fair will be open to the public Wednesday to Saturday, November 30 to December 3, 2011, from 11 am to 7 pm, and Sunday, December 4, 2011, from 11 am to 6 pm. There will be a vernissage for VIP card holders, press, and invited guests on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, from 4 pm to 8 pm.
