Unseen Forest: New Paintings by Chen Ping

Tally Beck Contemporary presented an exhibition of new oil paintings by Tasmania-based Chinese artist Chen Ping. The exhibition, entitled Unseen Forest: New Paintings by Chen Ping, opened at Tally Beck Contemporary, 42 Rivington St., New York, on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, and ran through August 26. The opening reception was sponsored by Tiger Beer–Singapore.

Unseen Forest comprises thirteen medium- to large-scale new oil paintings and several smaller oil-on-paper figure studies. Chen Ping’s new work demonstrates a move toward a more polychromatic palette and denser, more gestural compositions.

Chen Ping has shown extensively in Asia and Australia and had his inaugural solo exhibition in the U.S. at Tally Beck Contemporary in November 2010. In addition to participating in numerous group shows, Chen Ping has had work in many art fairs with Tally Beck Contemporary, including SCOPE New York, SCOPE Basel, artMRKT San Francisco, artMRKT Hamptons, Art Asia Miami and Texas Contemporary. Recently, his paintings have been added to distinguished collections of international collectors.
